For this activity, choose a municipality (town or city) to begin your analysis of response partners here in the state. It can be the where you live, work, or somewhere you just think would be interesting to analyze.
Next, research who the local emergency manager is. List their title and any details you can find on the person who fills this role.
After that, research the County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) who's jurisdiction your municipality falls under. Where is it located, how many staff make up the agency? Provide any additional details you think are relevant or important.
Then research the State EMA. Who is the Director. What Department within State government do they belong to? How many divisions are there in the Agency?
Lastly, write a short summary of the information you found. Did anything surprise you or peak your interest? Thinking back to your assigned reading, how would these EMA partners work together in the event of a large scale (regional or statewide impact) response effort. How would resources flow from the federal government to the local level?
This is all geared toward helping you understand the different EMAs who could be involved in a response effort and how they coordinate response efforts together. We'll use some of this information moving forward in other discussions as well.
