Computer-mediated communication (CMC) is a broad word that covers a variety of online chat rooms, social media, online gaming, and email, among other digital communication methods. CMC's influence on our lives, from social contact and enjoyment to teamwork and productivity at work, must be considered. We will investigate CMC in the context of gaming for this project. Games, particularly multiplayer ones, may be an effective tool for bringing people together worldwide and provide a novel and exciting means of interaction.
We will first review what previous authors and academics have learned about CMC gaming. Then, we'll review studies on how playing video games affects interpersonal interactions and what it means for player communication. We will also look at the role that gaming can play in promoting cooperation and cross-cultural understanding.
Second, we'll conduct a quick online research assignment to learn more about and engage with the subject of our choice. We will watch and participate in online gaming sessions, paying particular attention to player engagement, communication, and the general mood of the game. We'll also examine how communication in video games differs from more conventional forms, such as face-to-face interactions and phone calls.
Finally, we will summarize our results and recommend additional research. We'll talk about the possible advantages of CMC for gaming, like heightened social interaction and enhanced cross-cultural communication and cooperation. We will also look at the potential adverse effects of CMC in gaming, including the dangers of cyberbullying, privacy invasion, and addiction. Finally, we will make recommendations for improving the use of CMC in gaming, such as creating efficient moderation guidelines and promoting constructive communication techniques.
