For this assignment, assume you are a cognitive neuroscientist studying how various stimuli are represented in the brain. In your current work, you focus on how the brain represents faces in the brain. Answer the following questions about how you might conduct your research.

1) Suppose you are measuring action potentials by conducting single-neuron recordings in an area of the brain known to selectively respond to faces, and you present an image of a face to the person you are recording from.

a) What would you expect to see with regards to the rate of nerve firing?

b) Suppose you remove the image, and the action potentials stop - returning to their resting potential. What difference in charge (in mV) would you expect to observe between the inside and outside of the cell?
