Question

Sam is a 6-week-old infant who comes to your office with a reported rectal temperature of 101-102 degrees for the past 24 hours. On exam, Sam is alert and active and in no acute distress. His weight is within normal limits, and he is well hydrated. His temperature is 99 degrees in the office with no Tylenol being given in the past 12 hours. Mom is well known to you to be a reliable historian and competent mother.
