You are the CEO of a pharma company. The company's statement of values includes the following: "to reduce pain and suffering from the disease in a timely and affordable fashion". The company is working on a drug to reverse diabetes. Two of your close friends in the company are diabetics with increasingly debilitating effects. The molecular and in-vitro trials have been completed and the results are very promising...the best you have ever seen. Skirting the detailed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) process to proceed with clinical trials, you do the own trials with humans, under a paid contract. The results are incredibly good. Your company then applied to the FDA to do the clinical trials and after approval, you use the data already collected and report the incredible success of the drug. The drug is approved.
