Assignment:

You started working with a client Beverly, a 73 year old retired school teacher, a couple weeks ago. Beverly has no immediate support system and lives alone. She has a few friends, a sister and a niece with whom she speaks to weekly. Beverly's strength has started to decline which has impacted her walking. She is interested in seeking physical therapy to maintain her physical strength as much as possible. Though she has expressed that is getting more difficult to completed activities of daily living such as laundry, showering, and medication management. Beverly also reports needing assistance with transportation support to get to her medical appointments and to go grocery shopping as needed.

Beverly reports that now that her niece moved to a different state she doesn't have visitors to her home and she is beginning to feel lonely and isolated. She mentions interest in the community senior center but has not yet visited the center and does not know what services are offered there. Beverly often reminisces about when she was younger and how much she enjoyed going out with her friends to dance, or eat out at a restaurant and misses those days. When you probe more Beverly expresses some feelings of depression but overall states she is able to cope because she has her cat as support.

In addition, Beverly reports that she is receiving limited income through Social Security and reports that the money is not always enough to cover her bills, groceries, medications and other monthly expenses, but she reports not receiving any kind of other financial support at this time.
