PART 1: IN PREPARATION FOR THIS TASK
You need to conduct research and present an overview (typed or handwritten) with the following:
1. Choose two of your intended occupations for life after school
2. Research both and take notes on the following - hours, location, pay, benefits, culture/co-workers, company history, values and stability, growth opportunities, worker satisfaction, impact
3. Identify the specific ‘soft' and ‘hard' skills for both jobs
4. Identify the "cluster" of each job - the generators, the artisans, the designers, the informers, the coordinators, the carers, the technologists
5. Describe what you imagine a typical day in each job to be like - best and worst parts
6. List the steps you can take to get into each field of work or job - website, application, actions, etc.
7. Conduct class survey asking your peers which occupation they believe is most suitable for you and record this for discussion in your vlog
8. Interview at least one person about this profession - they should be either someone currently in the occupation, or with similar skill sets. Ask them what advice they would they give you about this job and record this for inclusion in your vlog or alternatively refer to the information they provided you with.
9. Decide on one occupation to write your final report on
PART 2: WHAT WILL YOUR FINAL REPORT LOOK LIKE?
Page 1: Cover page (Course: Year 12 General, your name, Task 7, occupation title and fitting image)
Page 2: Contents (as below) - Note: the number of headings will vary but all headings and sub-headings will be numbered accordingly
Page 3: Introduction - begin with a bit of history about your chosen occupation, where it originated from and how it has evolved. Think about who tends to be employed in this occupation, why and how this may have changed regarding gender, age etc. You should also include a few images on this sheet but choose them wisely. Research what educational and professional qualifications you will need to actually get into this sort of pathway for this occupation.
Page 4-6: Body content (number of pages here may vary)
Page 7: Interview transcript - list at least three potential questions you could expect when interviewing for this occupation, and your answers to these questions based on your skills.
Page 8: Conclusion - provide a final summary of why you believe you will be suitable for this occupation, and the steps you hope to take in order to be employable.
