Instruction: You have to do any 6 in 200 words each and have to be media ,news paper, article report. Assessment Submit - Submit the relevant referenced news article and your report at the beginning of each tutorial in Week 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10 & 11. Your tutor may randomly choose two reports to discuss. The chosen student needs to open the article on the class screen and verbally present the report for two minutes, then tutor may invite the class to a discussion.

The assessments for this subject are described below. The description includes the type of assessment, its purpose, weighting, due date and submission requirements, the topic of the assessment, details of the task and detailed marking criteria, including a marking rubric for essays, reports and presentations. KOI expects students to submit their own original work in both assignments and exams, or the original work of their group in the case of group assignments.

Note: It is important for students to develop the key academic and professional skills taught in this subject to enable them to maximise future potential in both their academic and professional careers. Accordingly, students falling below 50% in any assessment will be referred to English Development Classes (EDC) and must show evidence of attendance before submitting their next assessment. All students are encouraged to attend EDC classes to improve and reinforce their academic and professional communication skills.

Students will be asked to submit their worksheets for review at 3 randomly set dates throughout the trimester, and a final submission in week 12. Students who miss class for any reason will reduce their mark for the Quantity part of the assessment (see Marking Guide point 1) below) Students not in class on a day worksheets are collected will not be marked for that day's proportion of the Quality part of the assessment (see Marking Guide point 2) below).

Marks for this assessment will be a combination of: Quantity - doing the worksheet activities (50%) - students need to be in class i.e. absences will reduce part of the Weekly Worksheet mark. Quality - how well (level of detail, completeness etc) students complete the worksheets (50%). Students MUST be in class on the day worksheets are collected to gain a proportional mark for this part of the assessment mark i.e. a student who is not in class the day worksheets are collected will reduce their potential mark for this element by 33% i.e. 3.3/10.

To obtain the first 50% of marks (10 marks), students must attend class and participate in the weekly activities. Attendance/participation will be based on Weeks 3 - 12 inclusive (1 mark per week). Students missing a class for any reason will not be awarded the attendance/participation mark for that week. Tutors will collect worksheets from students at the end of the tutorial 3 times during the trimester at random intervals. Sheets will be returned to students the following week with relevant feedback. A mark out of 10 will be awarded depending on the level of detail, completeness of activities/worksheets, and overall quality of the completed worksheets.
