Assignment 1

Tasks to perform:
I. Install Windows Server 2012 R2 on a virtual machine
a. Name of virtual machine: YourName-NNN, where NNN is the last 3 digit of student ID (Alex-846).
b. Use 1 GB memory or more
c. Use Private Switch (Hyper-V) or Internal Adapter (VirtualBox)

II. Configure post-installation tasks.
a. Configure IP settings:
• IP address 10.1.1.NN (NN is last two digit of student ID)
• Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
• Default gateway: 10.1.1.254
• DNS:10.1.1.100
b. Turn ON network discovery and file sharing
c. Configure name of server machine: YourName-NNN

III. Convert to server core.
IV. Revert to server full GUI.

PART 2
Requirements (place screenshot after each step):
• Configure first domain controller for rogers-NNN.ca domain. The server name is DC-01-NNN. Virtual machine should have the same name as the server. [5]
• Configure second domain controller. The server name is DC-02-NNN. Virtual machine should have the same name as the server. [5]
• Create the three OUs shown in the table. [3]
• Create 5 users with real names in each OU. [1]
• Create the groups shown in the table in their respective OUs [2]
• Add one user per OU to the Manager groups [2]
• Add all users to the Staff groups [2]
• Deploy ONE of the desktop machines in the diagram. Include -NNN with the computer name and virtual machine name. Join the desktop to the domain. [4]
• Test domain login to the desktop using any of the user account that your created. [1]
• Verify replication between DCs. [1]
• Test disabling a user account. [1]
• Test "change password on next login". [1]
• Test resetting a user password. [1]
• Delete a user account. [1]
• Remove the desktop computer from the domain and place it back into workgroup. [1]
• Delete the information technology OU.[1]

• Deploy the domain controller virtual machine:
o VM Name: Controller-1-NNN
o Computer Name: Controller-1-NNN
o Domain: MGM-NNN.COM
• Deploy the virtual machine for the router:
o VM Name: Router-NNN
o Computer Name: Router-NNN
• Deploy the dhcp server virtual machine (this machine is also an additional domain controller):
o VM Name: Controller-2-NNN
o Computer Name: Controller-2-NNN
o Configure the appropriate dhcp scope.
o Exclude the first 20 ip addresses from the pool.
• Deploy the Windows desktop client:
o VM Name: Client-NNN
o Computer Name: Client-NNN
• Test windows networking on the DHCP client
