Opportunity for advancement is cited as a top reason for employees looking to make a move, after compensation."

Job-hopping seems to be occurring more and more due to employees failing to meet or achieve their expectations for advancement. Newer generations have different views of success. Rather than being tied to an employer, they harbor more entrepreneurial careers and look for better and higher job placements. According to Roy Maurer of SHRM, a survey stated that job hoppers believe every job is temporary and finding the best way to advance their careers and increase compensation is by seeking new employment. For recruiters and managers, it is becoming more important to be able to articulate opportunities for advancement and show promotion data, especially for job-hopping candidates. Employers must offer information up front to engage the best talent. Social media plays a big part in recruiting job hoppers. Because of their frequent usage of social media, recruiters can find talent from engagement through Social Networking (LinkedIn, Facebook). Many argue this is the new normal. Employees move jobs frequently and for various reasons.
