1. Select the field of study in business and management that you are interested in. In not more than 16 words, state clearly the research topic. In the selected research topic, make sure that you are able to identify and define the main issue or problem you wish to perform an academic research. In other words, at this juncture, you need to develop the problem statement associated with the topic that you have chosen.

2. From the main issue or problem, formulate the relevant research questions and state the objectives of the study. Your research questions and research objectives should be between three to five.

3. Compile a list of relevant references in the selected topic. From this list, choose about ten closely relevant references to your topic. Preferably, the references should be from refereed journals.

4. Using these references, write a literature review on your selected topic.

5. From the literature review, formulate the relevant hypotheses and develop a research model/framework for your topic.
