Narrow down your initial ideas based on the collection of articles and books you have located and skimmed. Consider the scope that you can research and write about in 10-12 pages. For this short-annotated bibliography, skim 3-5 sources you have collected for relevance and write 3-4 sentences about each one. At this point, you do not need to read them closely.
In this initial short-form annotation include: 1) the formatted reference citation; 2) how you think the reference will be useful for your research; 3) what you think the paper's/book's main point is; and 4) the disciplinary lens or writing style/format (investigative journalism, research blog, documentary, published report, etc.) of the source. It is not required, but you may also want to include a list of references from the book's/paper's bibliography that you want to look up next.
It does not have to be in any coherent order yet. This due date is intended to get you to get four pages of writing under your belt; it is likely that you will edit it significantly, move stuff around, and even possibly delete some of it if it doesn't work. Do a great job with an easy part or make a really terrible first crack at a harder part - it does not matter, just write four pages and do not stop for editing yet. (You can edit for clarity, grammar, spelling, details like numbers or names once you get 4 pages down.) They will review 5-6 pages of your writing at a time and give you feedback within 2-3 days.
Submit more complete annotations of 5 sources that you used. For the annotations include a short paragraph summary of the main ideas of the source and the perspectives of the author(s). Focus on what makes the source useful to your paper. Include a reflection about the source's conclusions and the disciplinary lens(es)/perspective(s) used for analysis. If this is written well, you may be able to include some or all of the text in your paper.
