Question: Prions are "infectious" proteins that will alter the structure of wild type proteins and turn them prionic. The protein degradation pathway involving the Proteasome works because this complex recognizes proteins tagged with Ubiquitin. Ubiquitin has to be added to a Leucine amino acid within the protein. Explain why this mechanism for the treatment of prions would be difficult/impossible to achieve.
