Today is a big day for Alison, a law student who is graduating in just a few months. She recently interviewed with a major law firm and was told after her interview that if the firm is interested in hiring her they will call her back on her cell phone sometime today for a second interview with a panel of senior attorneys. After breakfast Alison goes for a walk outside to settle her nerves. She knows a lot is riding on whether she gets a call today because this is her only potential job prospect. After only a few steps outside, Alison drops her cell phone on the sidewalk; the phone's screen cracks and goes dark.
