High turnover among academic staff can lead to:
- Increase of recruitment and training cost
- Qualities of graduates could be affected
- Loss of productivity
- Lost of trust to the higher education institute. The institute's profit will be affected (for private university) as the revenue and profit depends on enrolment of students

1. Identify the relationship between personal development and employee retention among academic staff in private higher education in Klang Valley.
