Explain how the covenant relationship between God and the Jewish people is celebrated or commemorated in one of the major festivals or sacred practices described in the "Way of Life" section of our text (either weekly observance of Shabbat or one of the major holidays--Rosh Hashanah; Yom Kippur; Sukkot or Pesach ("Passover."). Focus on one of these practices and be specific about why and how observant Jews practice the ritual(s) you have chosen: what historical event or theological belief the basis for this practice and how does its observance enhance a person's relationship with God? Identify at least two reasons why the Jews have experienced persecution during their history as God's people. Why do you think anti-Semitism remains a problem in contemporary society?
