Part -1:
the relationship between climate change, leadership, and ethical responsibility. What is the relationship between leadership and ethical standards?
How does advancements in technology complicate or simplify this relationship?
From my beliefs and readings, ethical standards are mostly absorbed from our surroundings. This leans heavily on the leadership roles we encounter. In a household, the children look up to their parents for guidance, leadership, and the development of their morals. In school, the students look up to the teachers and principles for guidance, leadership, and the development of their morals. Leaders in many forms are no in position to sit back and point fingers but instead take the hands of their subordinates and show them right from wrong. Ethical standards can not be told...they should be taught. Managers tell and leaders teach. I think that is the link in the relationship between ethical standards and leadership.
The relationship between leadership and ethical standards requires responsibility, accountability and effectiveness. I've come to this conclusion after reading that leaders have been unable to devise a global plan to reverse or halt greenhouse gas emissions. Since then, the advancements in technology have proven to simplify the relationship between leadership and ethical standards. A specific technology that has benefited the relationship between leadership and technology is pyrogenic carbon capture and storage. PyCCS is a proposed carbon sequestration technology that can mitigate climate change while improving soil fertility.
Leaders are guided by ethics, without ethics one cannot really be a good leader. Every leader should have a set of rules that guides him or her as to relate with their subordinates. Leaders are like role models and they are expected to lead on ethics and be responsible for both bad and good results.Leaders are supposed to communicate the importance of ethical standards to their employees and also hold them accountable to those standards. Most ethical issues that arise at the work place is not due to lack of business ethics but it is due to lack of ethical leadership by management. Some managers don't lead by example and employees also follow their footsteps. Ever heard most people saying at the work place; "even the manager doesn't care so why should I"

Ethical leadership can be described as the demonstration of normatively appropriate conduct through personal interactions and interpersonal relationships, and the promotion of such conduct to followers through two-way communication, reinforcement, and decision-making (Brown, Trevino, & Harrison, 2004). The advancements of technology often push leadership to doing and acting without the leadership role of performing with ethics. I am not sure if it is other motives that push the decision-making without thinking it the decision being made gives an outcome that is best for all.
