A research team is interested in the relationship between arousal and visuospatial cognition. They recruit 10 participants, and the same 10 participants take part in 4 sessions: In one session, they are given 10 mg of the drug Hubucillin (a drug designed to arouse the sympathetic nervous system). In another session, they are given 20 mg of the drug. In a third session, they are given 30 mg of the drug. In a final session, they are given a placebo. In each of the 4 sessions, the participants are given a mental rotation task in which they have to identify rotated objects. Researchers record the number of correctly identified objects, in each session. Researchers analyze the mean score on the mental rotation task, over the 4 sessions.
