After completing my ten points assignment, I have refined my study topic to be investigating the perceptions of learning disabled 10 year olds regarding their conceptual math instruction. Qualitative study allows researchers to explore the lived experience of individuals (Maul, 2015). Studying the students' perceptions through interviews would assist me in gaining insight into what kind of affect students are evidencing during the instruction. Grouping these students into strugglers and non-strugglers would shed light on what types of perceptions they bring to and experience in class. Using grounded theory, permits the researcher to evolve his theory along with the analysis of incoming data (Moore, 2010).

Carduff, Murray, and Kendall (2015) propose strengthening a qualitative study through the addition of a longitudinal dimension. Contact is made with participants over three points in time during the study. The researchers indicate that an advantage of this type of study is the "nuanced understanding of phenomenon which evolved over time (Carduff, Murray & Kendall, 2015). The time element allows researchers to explore the evolution of the experience instead of isolating the experience at one point in time. Returning to my research, modeling my investigation on a longitudinal study would shed light on whether certain perceptions were ingrained or fluid in the students. Having multiple points of contact would validate or relativize themes that emerge. On the other hand, Carduff, Murray, and Kendall (2015) pointed out the disadvantage that with repeated exposure to subjects, the researcher-participant relationship tended to become too familiar. I can see how a friendly relationship could develop between interviewer and interviewee, which might influence the responses of the interviewee. Thus, in the case of a longitudinal study, an impersonal format such as a questionnaire might be more appropriate.

DQ 2

The disadvantage in using qualitative methodology is the fact that I am using a small sample, consisting of 15 individuals, some of whom are overseas. Qualitative research has a low population validity, however, the strength of this approach is seen when the sample is well defined, for then it can be generalized to a population at large (Hamton 1987) Raggucci's (1972). The advantage is that here are fewer threats to external validity, because subjects are studied in their natural setting and encounter fewer controlling factors compared with quantitative research conditions (Sandelowski 1986). The researchers become so immersed in the context that they are able to give the assurance that the data are representative of the subject being studied, (Ocddey, 1984). My research is on global leadership, and it uses grounded theory. While the qualitative research method allows subjects to raise issues and topics which the researcher might not have included in a structured research design, (Carr, 1994), the ground theory does not allow the researcher to predetermine in advance about what he or she will find, and what and how social phenomena should be viewed. Therefore, the value of Grounded Theory is that it avoids making assumptions and instead adopts a more neutral view of human action in a social context. (Simmons, DE (2006). Grounded theory is appropriate for investigating social processes that have attracted little prior research attention, where the previous research is lacking in breadth or depth, or where a new point of view appears promising. (Milliken, P. (2010).

qualitative methodology was appropriate for this research because this research relied on interviews to examine case studies to answer questions to what, how, and why? The disadvantage might have been a laboring factor which resulting in minor revisions, adjusting the focus to reflect specific HRM practice as many themes emerge from the study (Crouse, Doyle, & Young, 2011). Future recommendations would be to use a quantitative approach since this studies strength will be to provide data that is descriptive allowing the researcher to capture a snapshot of user population. "This approach includes descriptive statistics like the mean, median, and standard deviation, but can also include inferential statistics like t-tests, ANOVAs, or multiple regression correlations (MRC)" (Madrigal & McCain, 2012, para. 2). Statistical analysis generates important facts from research data, including preference trends, differences between groups, and demographics. Using a quantitative study also allows for a larger population to be examined. This method would have been beneficial in analyzing the workplace learning strategies.
