You have been hired as a consultant for a nonprofit organization. You understand the connection between steward leadership and serving as a trustee on a board of directors. Further, you understand the importance of "stewarding" time, treasure, talent and relationships!

The organization is maturing, and they have communicated that at present they think they operate as a Traditional Model board. They are unsure, however, about present practice and think they may instead operate following a Results-Based Model. As a part of your consulting contract, you have been asked to lead a two-day retreat. Desired outcomes for the retreat are:

-Reinforce the importance of steward leadership in effective board governance.

-Help the board understand how they currently operate.

-Lead the board to a decision about what model they want to follow moving forward.

-Ensure that the board understands and is equipped to apply the three modes of Governance as Leadership.
