The hospital is in the process of converting to an electronic health record and there is a lot of confusion about what to do with the paper health records. The HIM professional is being asked to give up the current file room space to make room for a new diagnostic imaging machine and needs to plan how to archive the paper health records. The hospital administrator just wants to “get rid” of all these old records.
