BUS 300s - Service Hours: Reflection on Working at a (hypothetical) Clothes Retail Store

Service hours are fundamentally about "learning".  Reflection writing is an essential part of that process. You should plan to complete the reflection on service immediately after each service session until you have completed all required entries. It's easy to forget things you are sure you will remember.  Try to jot down notes to trigger your memory when you get home. Jot down descriptions, details, what happened, thoughts, reactions - whatever comes to mind! Your reflection must address what you did, who you worked with, what you observed, how you felt and how you impacted the life of at least one of the clients of your service agency.  

-First, identify something that happened during your site work.  Then...

What did you do, see, hear, feel, think, smell?  What were your most vivid first impressions? Describe - or draw - your site in as much detail as possible.  Describe the people in as much detail as possible.  What does the agency do? How do they do it? What happened at the site while you were there? What interactions took place?  Describe them.  Describe your own participation.

So what did you learn?  What meaning did you take away from the event or experience? Why is it important? What questions did you have? What did you understand, and what was unclear? What did you like, what didn't you like?  Explain.  What ideas from the reading or class discussions come to mind as you reflect on your visit?

Now, what will you do with the learning, experience, and information you now have? How will you approach your next visit? Now what are you apprehensive about, what are you excited about? Now, what do you want to explore further? How did you feel when you arrived at your site and now how do you feel about your site?
