Question: Lakoff and Johnson make a compelling argument to view metaphors as NOT just forms of expression (rhetorical strategies or figures of speech) but AS metaphorical concepts (in our minds) that structure our understanding and hence our actions in this world. Take one of the several examples that Lakoff and Johnson give. Describe how that metaphor actualy shapes our understanding and actions in the world and hence is not simply an expression. Then reflect upon how one can imagine a different way of doing the same thing - i.e., (arguing with someone, working and thinking about time, or even describing the egg and sperm in ways that do not reproduce gendered bias or stereotypes in this world). Even though this maybe hard to imagine, I would like to hear your attempt.
