Question:
Be sure you answer both Part 1 and Part 2 of this assignment before submitting.
Part 1
After reading Chapter 2 in the textbook and the lecture for this topic, write a 2-3 sentence answer to each of the six questions that form the basic components or personal commitments for your worldview. Answer the questions about your own beliefs in your own words, not what you think the Christian worldview believes. Keep this worksheet intact, and only add your answers under each question.
1. What is your belief about ultimate reality?
2. What is your belief about the nature of the universe?
3. What is your belief about human nature and the afterlife?
4. What is your belief about knowledge?
5. What is your basis of ethics?
6. What is your purpose?
Part 2
Answer the following two questions with a 250-350 word response for each.
1. Your answers to the questions in Part 1 form the basis of your worldview. Now that you have articulated your worldview, evaluate it according to the practical test described in Chapter 2 of the textbook and the lecture. Can you live your worldview out in the world as we know it? Why or why not?
2. Reflect on your current understanding of the Christian faith. In other words, what is the essence of the Christian worldview? How does one become a Christian?
Questions for Reflection
1. How much do you think you are influenced by the movies and TV shows you watch? What are some examples of behaviors you watch and accept as normal that do not align with your worldview? How do you think your worldview has morphed in the past 5 years as you reflect on the shows you have watched? What are the themes, words, visual images, etc. that you have accepted as a result of this influence? In what ways have these been helpful to you?
2. How does your ultimate reality influence your sense of purpose?
3. How does your ultimate reality affect your belief about knowledge?
4. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being NOT AT ALL, and 10 being VERY, how objective do you think you can be as you analyze your own worldview? What about the worldview of another person?
5. Which test is the most difficult for you to perform on your own worldview? Why?
6. How well do you adhere to your professed worldview? If you do not adhere very well, is it because it really isn't your worldview or because you need to be more conscientious about following through with what you believe to be right?
