Task Summary
Create 3 visual timelines of innovations including one from within education. Critically reflect on the similarities and differences between the timelines of each example. Explore how each example drew upon curiosity/creativity/action.
Context:
This task requires you to draw upon your learning about innovation in this subject so far and to apply your skills in research and critical analysis to consider the role of key aspects of innovation in enabling or inhibiting change. This task incorporates visual and textual components. It requires you IED402 Innovation timelines
to think in theoretical and practical terms about innovation, in educational settings and beyond. In completing this task, you will engage with the broader processes of innovation and change, and as such this work is foundational in thinking about the kinds of innovations that might be appropriate and effective in your own context.
Task Instructions:
Your submission for this task should include the following sections of the one document:
- TWO (2) visual timelines of innovations from outside of the educational context. Each timeline should represent the key actions taken in conceptualising and implementing each innovation, along with any subsequent actions or events that provide evidence of the success or otherwise of each innovation. These innovations can be drawn from personal/professional experience, or from external sources (e.g. literature, media). [700 words equivalent.]
- ONE (1) visual timeline of an innovation from within the educational context. This timeline should represent the key actions taken in conceptualising and implementing the innovation, along with any subsequent actions or events that provide evidence of the success or otherwise of the innovation. This innovation can be drawn from personal/professional experience, or from external sources (e.g. literature, media). [300 words equivalent.]
- A CRITICAL ANALYSIS of the three timelines, in which you explore how each example draws upon curiosity, creativity and action, and discuss the similarities and differences between each timeline. Conclude this section by REFLECTING on your developing understanding of how innovation can best be defined. [1000 words.]
Please ensure that section 3 adheres to conventions of academic English (in terms of sentence construction, proofreading, spelling, word choice, and so on). Support your claims throughout the task with appropriate literature (from scholarly sources, and wider reading in sections 1 and 2 where relevant) and cite all sources in APA style.
