Topic : Death Experience that Really Affected You (self-reflect) The outcome of this discussion is to talk about a death experience that really affected you. Remembering and telling a story about death may be upsetting, but it may also be freeing for you. Our experiences with loss and death leave us with messages, feelings, fears and attitudes we will carry throughout life. To prevent our being controlled by our unconscious and conscious reactions to past experiences, it is important to recognize and state explicitly how these experiences have influenced us and our lifestyles.
1. Reflect on a death-related experience that really affected you: - When did it occur? - Where was it? -Who was involved? -What happened?
2. What were your reactions, positive and negative?
3. What were you advised to do, and what did you do, to cope with the experience?
4. What did you learn about death and loss as a result of this experience?
5. Of the things learned then, what makes you feel fearful or anxious now?
6. Of the things learned then, what makes it easier for you to cope with death now?
