Comment: "I think that for at least a brief period of time, the reliability of surveys will have a dramatic downward swing. With the combination of the lower popularity of phone responses and the rise of the internet, naturally pollsters will try to turn to the internet for more outreach. However, before they are able to figure out how to solve the problem of higher response rates and voter turnouts, the internet will probably remain unreliable as a polling source. Anecdotally, I ignore most phone calls from unknown numbers and try not to click on any links sent to me by those numbers as well. The article also mentions the 2016 election as most likely to be affected by polls, which upon hindsight, is definitely true. I think solutions are very difficult given the unreliability of voter turnout currently. However, something that I have observed is that voter turnout rates have been increasing among the youth, which in the future, will perhaps help the polls reflect actual results more accurately. "
