Gina Platte is a divorced 41-year-old African-American female. She was referred by the Department of Human Services after her daughter was removed from her home. Her 15-year-old daughter was placed into protective custody due to allegations of sexual abuse made against Gina's livein boyfriend. Gina reports that she is devastated by the recent events, especially after being clean from drugs for several years. "I was making huge progress; what just happened?" She admits that alcohol is used to "feel numb." She said it helps her cope with the stress she has been going through lately. She reports crying frequently since the charges were made two weeks ago. She denies present or past suicide ideation but comments that she misses her daughter and gets sad, thinking it is all her fault. She reported she has not been sleeping well the last couple of weeks and does not remember what or when she ate last. She said she has not been adjusting well to her daughter being gone and has difficulty concentrating. She commented that it was new for her to have sleep issues and mood challenges, stating, "That is not like me at all." Gina has a history of drug use.
