Hypothesis: since the normal substrate for the enzymes is lactose, adding lactose along with ONPG will reduce the rate of yellow color formation.

Remember the independent variable on the activity of the enzyme beta-gal not E.coli

1. List your control and the independent and dependent variable and explain why yhese are your control, independent, and dependent variables.

2. Describe your experimental design: it is enzymes break down some times lactose and sometimes OMP. add lactose along with ONPG then reaction will be reduced since ONPG and lactose are a substrate.

3. does this experiment support or refute your hypothesis? why and why not? you may neeed to do some research to help explain your results and any ideas that are not yours should be cited.
