There are many suggested ways and decisions that can be taken to reduce or eliminate the bar violence completely.
• Dome must consider voluntarily ending the deep-discount drinks. This may play a part in reducing the number of people who are drinking.
• Better control and security system within bars and nightclubs.
• Appointing better and well trained security guards to prevent violence from taking place or escalating inside the bar.
• Bar owners should consider lifetime ban to the people who are creating troubles.
• Number of video surveillance cameras in the bars and nightclubs must be increased.
• Bar owners must ensure that no service is provided to the ones who are impaired.
The main motive is to pro-actively address the problem identified by the Government and take necessary steps to reduce it. Otherwise, legislation can be ensued.
As part of getting the liquor license back, Dome and other local bar owners must commit to ending the $1.00 drinks, installing more cameras, lifetime ban to troublemakers, appointing better and well trained security guards as well as:
• Limiting the number of buyers to 80-85% of the bar capacity.
• On a busy night, hire double number of police officers than a normal night.
• Increase the number of security staff inside the bars.
• Appointing a consultant for improved security training.
• Increase the number of cameras inside the bar and allow police to have access of them.
When it comes to lifetime ban for troublemakers then it should be the bar owners who should set up an example.
From a risk management perspective, if the local bars follow the ways discussed above then they can reduce the Government concern over bar violence.
