Water, initially a saturated vapor at 4 bar, fills a closed, rigid container. The water is heated until its temperature is 400 degree celc. KE and PE effects can be ignored.

a) Reduce the appropriate first law for this problem

b) For the water, determine the heat transfer in KJ per KG of water 7.

Steam enters a turbine operating at steady state with mass flow rate of 4600 kh/h. The turbine develops a power output of 1000kw. At the inlet, the pressure is 60 bar, the temperature is 400 degree cel. and the velocity is 10m/s. At the exit the pressure is 0.1 bar, the quality is 90%, and the velocity is 30m/s.

a) Reduce the appropriate first law of thermodynamics for this problem

b) Determine the rate and direction of heat transfer between the turbine and the surroundings in kW. Show all work.
