Recruiting/Staffing Decisions

Staffing decisions can have a profound impact on deciding whether an organization is able to reach organizational and overall human resource management objectives. If staffing decisions are done well, the proper hiring levels and skill sets are acquired. If done poorly, staffing decisions are costly, vacancies remain, and turnover is a constant challenge.

Is there an overall approach or philosophy of HR in your organization or one you may have read in your research about specific recruitment/staffing policies and programs? Be specific; look at the HR mission, consult the employee handbook, or refer to the company website and briefly note how specific staffing decisions support this HR mission. For example, perhaps a staffing policy emphasizes hiring at entry levels and this policy is ultimately supported by strong training and promotion from within organization policies. Describe and analyze this connection or lack thereof between non-staffing and staffing HR programs and policies in a specific organization.
