Question

A 76 year-old female is being evaluated for new onset weakness and inability to walk while recovering from a recent bout of pneumonia. You find her tachycardic and mildly hypotensive. Her body temperature reading is consistently between 95 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit. (35-35.5 Celsius). This reading indicates: the patient is unlikely to have an infection due to low body temperature the patient has a fever consistent with infection the patient is mildly hypothermic, consistent with cold sepsis the patient should be aggressively rewarmed due to clinical hypothermia.
