There are three distinct sections to this assignment.
Annotated Bibliographies are an academic way to formally do and record research results using a specific format.
- The introductory paragraph. This is to tell the reader what you hope to accomplish/learn with the research you are doing for your proposal. It includes your research question.
- Describe what it is, why you think it's important, what you hope to accomplish by answering questions about it and/or digging deeper into what others know about it. (These will be headers in your paper)
- There is a description of what makes a good research question in our library section: https://library.csp.edu/BA-BUS
- The five separate paragraphs
- A concluding summary paragraph of what you learned from the research for this assignment.
More information
Follow this process. First of all determine your research question or questions to be answered to help inform you of how to go about making your proposal.
Review at least five sources that are professional or academic related to your proposal. Do NOT use such sources as: Wikipedia, Google, or Investopedia. There is currently a Concordia librarian, Dan Hoiland, assigned to this class who can help. I strongly suggest you contact him for help with your topic. In Blackboard, you can also go to the: Student Page/University Quicklinks/library/Subject Guides/Business Management/BA-Business Research guide. Dan has also added APA information for creating and citing Annotated Bibliographies. This is most helpful!
There is a picture of Dan Hoiland who is the contact for Bus 490.
- Find sources related to your topic in a professional or academic source.
- Read the sources. Determine if the information is helpful for your proposal/problem or not.
- If it is helpful, write one summary paragraph about what it says, as it pertains to your topic.
- This can either prove or disprove your idea for your proposal
- Follow the example for setting up your annotated bibliographies. Be sure to follow the template structure. Watch the proper indents.
When you look at the template for the annotated bibliography from the library observe the following:
DO NOT include the name of the institution on your header page
In your summary paragraph for each source, ONLY do the following:
- Describe the content and focus of the book or article
- Suggest the source's usefulness to your research
