You are the HR consultants to a small business within the automotive industry in Jamaica. In your role as HR Consultants, you are expected to analyse the situation, identify the problems and develop workable solutions. For the purpose of this case, you are asked to provide written answers, an oral presentation and construct material for presentation to the CEO. While there is no single best answer, you must identify the key issues so that the solutions you propose are appropriate to the situation. The Case - A New Compensation System for Bird's Car Dealership Limited Registered in 2005, Bird's Car Dealership Limited is a dealer in pre-owned high-end cars with detailing, repair and roadside assistance. The business is doing well while being hit by the Covid pandemic. They also have a car document expiry text reminded for persons that is free of cost to the customer. These services have been complemented in the last year by introducing two new services. Home visits for detailing and onsite internet cafe and snack counter with free Wi-Fi where people can have a snack while they wait. The business has offices in four locations spread across Jamaica. These are in Mandeville, St Andrew (2) and Montego Bay. Notably, while earnings are flat, the company is also trying to become more efficient and wants to launch a new office conservation drive. They are particularly interested in bringing down their water, electricity and cleaning solutions bills. The business complies with the Jamaica law and offers statutory benefits. Employees receive a team bonus of two weeks' salary at Christmas. They also provide merit increases and have a seniority pay system in place. Additional Data: The business has forty employees spread across all locations. i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. Most of the business' employees are persons between the ages of 18 to 35 years old. On average about ten are female. 80% have children of primary school age. Base Salary for pegged to the Minimum Wage plus 10%. About 25% of the employees go to evening classes to complete their secondary and tertiary education. The company is not interested in encouraging persons to remain with them longer than 6-7 years. The company is interested in promoting excellence in boosting the number of vehicles. Recommend an incentive plan with four components you believe the firm should offer to promote its goals and motivate its employees. Justify your recommendations.
