Integrative Case: HSBC's Climate Champions Programme

HSBC Holdings is a large multinational banking and financial services company based in London. It's original name was Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. They have over 6,000 offices in 80 countries. In 2007, the HSBC Climate Champion Programme was launched, with HSBC working together with several other organizations. HSBC employees could apply to become "climate champions," which involved a one-year commitment to promote awareness and action on climate change issues both within and outside the HSBC organization. The entire year can be seen as a form of experiential learning for those selected to participate.
