Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate skills and abilities in collecting and analysing appropriate information, applying a range of strategic business and financial tools and techniques available, to plan and evaluate global business and e-business operations.

Your Task:
The second assessment (Assignment 2) is a 3500 word essay; and accounts for 70% of the overall grade for the Unit. It involves researching the dynamic developments in the global business scene and the impact of these on competitiveness and strategy of the international organisation. In this, your abilities to critically analyse a wide range of literature and information, synthesise concepts and arguments, and evaluate alternative plans of action and their implications will be assessed. To the extent possible the assignment is designed in a way that the research is based on or related to the organisation (and the industry) you work for; and therefore it is hoped that this exercise will enhance your personal and professional advancement within the organisation (and the industry).

1 Choose a company that evolves in a Global industry ( you can use the same industry as you assignment 1 if you wish). You will need to build a PESTEL and 5-Forces analysis and then consider the potential strategic direction for the business and include recommendations about which markets and product categories it could potentially focus on in order to grow and sustain its competitiveness/profitability.
2 You are expected to provide a corporate strategy, a business strategy as well as a marketing strategic plan to implement your strategy . you will need to analyse the dynamic developments in the global business scene and the impact of these on competitiveness and strategy of the international organisation

- Identify and assess some of the current strengths and weaknesses of the international online organisation(s) relative to its global environment.
- Recommend a logical outline strategy / plan to enhance its global online competitiveness.

This assignment focus on the concepts, models and theories sseen in BS3 and 4 ( marketing and strategy implementation at the intenational level). This assessment will allow you to reflect upon some of the core concepts which contribute to the foundational themes of the unit. This assessment will allow you to demonstrate your knowledge in understanding the nature of the global business environment. You will be expected to think laterally about the global business environment (with particular focus on the macro environment) and the unique set of challenges an increasing level of interdependence can have on business activities/operations.
