Agile Transformations

Agile principles and practices have been a focus for many organizations. The global Agile movement has widely scaled, particularly in software development, and most organizations of any size have at least some pockets of Agile management (Denning, 2019). Agility is on fire, and there is growing recognition of its transformational benefits. However, transforming into an agile enterprise is not easy, especially for established large organizations (Brosseau et al., 2019).

Several results come from agility; not all successful agile transformations share the common elements described in this paper.

Business Agility results in three distinct success factors:

1. Leaders visibly contribute to a simplified management system that favors context over control.

2. Streamlined, integrated workflows enabled by cross-functional teams are measured with meaningful outcomes.

3. Employees that are inspired, empowered, engaged, and accountable for outcomes "A comprehensive agile transformation looks to touch every facet of the organization, including people, process, strategy, structure, and technology" (Brosseau et al., 2019).
