Assume you were the recipient of a large inheritance from a trust fund set up by your rich uncle. The trust documents provided you with a choice of how you wanted your benefits paid out. You could either choose to receive a one-time payment of $2 million or a series of 20 annual payments of $165,000 each which cannot be transferred to another person upon your death if you were to die before the 20 years expired.
