As you walk down aisle B in the warehouse, you see a cloud of smoke and then see Chris running to aisle A. You need to talk to Chris. If he said he didn’t do it, I would say I saw you smoking in the warehouse today and the purpose of this meeting is to make you aware it is unacceptable and that it should end and not happen again. If he says, it is not only me but other employees are doing it. My response would be that we are not here to talk about other’s behavior. We are here to talk about what you are doing and what needs to change. He might say that nobody told him about this new rule. I would say, Going forward, now you know about the rule from our meeting today and I expect you to follow the rule going forward. He might say, thank you for the meeting and I will follow this rule going forward. I would say thank you so much, Chris, for understanding this new rule and following the change.

2. You are an office manager overseeing a department of 25 people. One of your employees comes to you and complains about Pat’s unpleasant body odor and how difficult it is to work in the same area. You agree to talk to Pat.
