Question: In 2015 Annabelle*, a seven-year-old girl was taken to the OPD Pedia accompanied by her mother with complaints of fever, joint pains, and swelling of the right knee for 5 days duration. Upon interview with the mother, she had a history of frequent sore throat in the past which subsided without treatment. On examination by the doctor, she had signs of inflammation in the above joints. Upon auscultation of the heart, it revealed a heart murmur. Further investigation revealed Rheumatoid Fever. An injection of benzathine Penicillin G administered as an intramuscular injection every four weeks was prescribed. Annabelle, now 12 years old visit the OPD-Pedia every month for consultation and to receive an injection of penicillin. Ibuprofen 100/5 ml every 6 hours was also prescribed to relieve fever and pain.
