A 5.000kg mass starts from rest and slides down on an inclined plane, hits a bumper at the bottom of the inclined plane and bounces back up the inclined plane and comes to rest again. Through the collision with the bumper, 0.700J of energy is lost. The mass started at a height of 0.250m above the bumper and rebounded to a height of 0.210m after the collision. How much energy was lost in from when the mass started at rest until it rebounded to its maximum height after the collision?

What is the magnitude of the braking force : A 65-kg bicyclist rides his 8.8-kg bicycle with a speed of 14 m/s. What is the magnitude of the braking force? How far does the bicycle travel if it takes 4.0 s to come to rest?
Find the height from which the ball was thrown : A ball is tossed from an upper-story window of a building. The ball is given an initial velocity of 8.80m/s at an angle of 25.0° below the horizontal. It strikes the ground 6.00 s later.
What height will the stream of water strike the building : A fireman 44.0 m away from a burning building directs a stream of water from a ground-level fire hose at an angle of 32.0° above the horizontal. If the ramp exerts no friction force on the block : A 200-g block is pressed against a spring of force constant kN/m until the block compresses the spring 10.0cm. The spring rests at the bottom of a ramp inclined at 60.0 degrees to the horizontal. Using energy considerations, decide how far up the inc..

What is the average power generated with the lifting force : A helicopter, starting from rest, accelerates straight up from the roof of a hospital. The lifting force does work in raising the helicopter. An 730-kg helicopter rises from rest to a speed of 8.8 m/s in a time of 3.9 s. Through this time it climbs t..
Consider both vertical and horizontal forces : A police officer in hot pursuit drives her car during a circular turn of radius 300m with a constant speed of 80.0km/h. Her mass is 55.0kg. What are the magnitude and the angle (relative to vertical) of the net force of the officer on the car seat? (..
What compression is needed for the spring potential energy : Pushing on the pump of a soap dispenser compresses a small spring. When the spring is compressed 0.50cm, its potential energy is 0.0025 J. (a) what is the force constant of the spring? (b) What compression is needed for the spring potential energy to..
What is the angle of the source above the horizon : Astronomers observe a 60.0 * 10^6 Hz source both directly and by reflection from the sea. The receiving dish is 20.0m above the sea level. If the two waves interfere constructively at the location of the dish, what is the angle of the source above th..
