Question

Sam has a 4-year-old son who identifies as male. Recently Sam has noticed that his son is really rigid in his understanding of gender roles. He strictly conforms to gender stereotypes associated with his gender identity. For example, he refuses to wear anything with pink on it and plays only with stereotypically male toys. Sam is concerned about this development and wonders why his son has changed his thinking. Explain to Sam what has changed in Sam's understand of gender. Include in your answer 1) the stage of gender development that Sam is in now 2) children's understand of gender at this stage.
