Book, Every Good Endeavor, author Timothy Keller makes several statements about work. Please give your response to the following questions:
Question 1. Keller states that "...young people see the process of career selection more as the choice of an identity marker than a consideration of gifting and passions to contribute to the world." He then lists three points that the Bible provides in terms of wisdom in choosing one's work: (1) choose work that we can do well, (2) choose work that benefits others, and (3) choose work that not only benefits our families and the human community, but also benefits the "field of work itself." In the section entitled "The Power of Being in the Palace," Keller quotes Dick Lucas' statement that "...being a preacher, missionary, or leading a Bible study group is easier" due to a "spiritual glamour" associated with it, and that God wants to use people not onlyin "church ministry," but also "in law, in medicine, in business, in the arts." The author further states that "God urges you to think about where you are and why you are there, to realize the importance of being in the palace." Do you agree? Why or why not?
