Assignment:

For this activity, begin by reading the attached document titled, "Civil Liberty Laws". This document walks through four (4) laws that were passed by the government and that impacted our civil liberties. Read through each of the laws considering the following questions: What is the historical context for the law? What are the civil liberties affected? In your opinion, was the law an appropriate measure for the time, or an example of our government "giving up liberty for a little security"? Next, pick one of the laws discussed. Imagine that you are living during the time that the law was passed. It is your job to create a campaign advocating either for or against the law, depending on your personal opinion. This can be in any format you feel comfortable with - a podcast, an infographic, a youtube video, a slide deck, a musical number, etc. If you have an idea outside of this list, please email me ([email protected]) for clearance. Do not be limited by the timing of your law (it doesn't matter that they didn't have youtube in 1798).
