1) Read the following case study, found in the link immediately below.

Case Study Assignment Reading: "Poverty in Mexico"

2) After reading the case study "Poverty in Mexico", you will complete the assignment found below. Your case study response paper should start with a brief introduction or summary of the case study. You will then answer each of the questions listed above. End the case study with a concluding paragraph that synthesizes the main points and highlights what you learned from the case study.

Each of the case studies that we will be using this semester are meant to give you a better understanding of global public health issues and how those issues can be/were addressed. You should use the information from assigned readings and class lecture to help you analyze and comprehend the case study, and help you determine how you would respond to the global public health issue. After reading the case study, you should prepare a document that answers the following questions. You may just type directly into this document and answer each question directly underneath the written question.

1. What was the problem that the program or intervention was intended to address?
2. Why was this a significant concern in need of attention?
3. What actions were taken in the case?
4. Were these actions appropriate? Why or why not?
5. What challenges to implementation or success were encountered?
6. Was there anything omitted or not considered initially? In later stages?
7. What was the result of the intervention or program? What changes resulted because of the program? In what ways did lives improve or become worse because of the program?
8. How can the lessons learned from this case study be used in other global public health issues?

Program Evaluation Questions

1. What "indicators" were used to judge program performance?
2. What evidence related to these indicators indicated program effectiveness?
3. What conclusions about program effectiveness can be made based on the available evidence?
