Use the Content Area Reading Task: Graphic Organizers and Notetaking Template to answer this assignment.
Part 1 - Graphic Organizers Imagine you are teaching an English literature lesson and include the following:
1. Identify your content area, choose a topic, and identify the corresponding VA SOL.
2. Choose a graphic organizer that would facilitate a deeper understanding of the topic. Be sure "to match the tool to the task" (Fisher & Frey, 2020, p. 121). Choices include Concept Map, Flow Diagram, Tree Diagram, Matrices, or another graphic organizer of your choice.
3. Classroom-ready sample - provide a completed sample of the graphic organizer. Be sure it is filled in with the information that you would expect students to include.
4. Explanation - Explain why you chose this type of graphic organizer for your topic. Include how it will be implemented in your content area classroom. include a minimum of two in-text citations from the textbook or another scholarly source to support your ideas.
Part 2 - Notetaking 1. Read from the Fisher, Brozo, Frey, and Ivey (2020) textbook.
2. Using the same topic and SOL used for
Part 1 of this assignment, follow the step-by-step the procedure outlined on pages 101-102.
3. make a "disorganized" notes. Create notes in split-page format. Take a photo of each to show the difference clearly.
4. Include a script that you would 'teach' to students that includes:
a. Comparison of the organization of the content.
b. Advantages of the split-page model
c. Explanation of how you would teach the concept of split-page notes to students.
