Assignment:

After reading "Gilded Age: Families and the Factory," Imagine it's the year 1880 ?and you're living in New York City, where your family has lived now for two generations. For as long as you can remember, you've watched your parents struggle to find and keep a decent job with sufficient pay. In order to help, you've worked in a factory for seven years; you're now 20 ?years old. Three of your younger siblings likewise work in the factory.

Tragedy strikes! Dad was seriously injured in a machinery accident, and your mother is currently bed-ridden with tuberculosis. You're in charge of the family now, but you decide to try something different. Rather than finding more shift work to pay the bills, you wrote a letter to the factory owner; you hope that explaining your situation will help.

In your letter, you make FIVE requests of the boss - ?what are they? Be specific, explaining why, in your opinion, your demands are both necessary and reasonable.
