Assignment:

Refer to Infographic 5 in your Module reading as an example of the true cost of accounting. Often, you can see a double cheeseburger on the "Dollar Menu" at many fast food chains. Apply the infographic strategy of calculating true cost, and describe how the true cost of the double cheeseburger is not reflected in $1. A text reads, what does it take to produce the paper you use every day? The infographic shows internal and external costing of paper.

The internal cost (price per page) includes the cost of buildings, electricity, fuel, trees, labor, and equipment. The negative external cost (price to society) includes air pollution, soil erosion, health problems, deforestation, and water pollution. Both costs together give true cost per page. A text reads, though it is impossible to put an actual dollar amount on these external costs, what we do know is that the cost is not zero and, therefore, should not be ignored completely.
