This week, you are reading about gender and sexuality in relation to workplace culture, expectations, and opportunities. Although the modern workplace has arguably become much more diverse in recent decades, there are still expectations predicated on gender and sexuality that shape organizational culture and the experience of employees. Some of these concepts include the following.

Sex: Biological characteristics
Gender Identity: A social construction comprised of the gender traits that a person identifies with
Gender Performance: The gender traits that a person displays and embodies in the public world
Heteronormativity: Culturally ascribed belief, values, and practices that normalize heterosexuality and gender conformity

With these ideas in mind, reflect on the traits that you think are important to a good leader. What are the traits? Do you think these traits are more masculine in nature or feminine in nature? Why?
